It is true. The Header pipe sizes down to 1 3/4" at the point where the muffler slips over it. Go check out some of the Harley shops or a customumizing shop they may have some they removed from someones bike that is just laying around collecting dust and you may get it free or dirt cheap. If not then find a guy or gal that rides a Harley and ask if they know of someone that has recently removed their muffler and see what they have done with their old one. the only problem with the stock H/D mufflers is the fact that they sound pretty much like the stock Savage muffler, probably because both are running dbs as regulated by the government.
